What a sheet tells us about people
A topographical sheet shows more than hills and rivers: it shows where people live, how they use the land, how they move and where water drains. This chapter reads all four on our imagined practice sheet (not a real place, not a Survey of India sheet). Part 1 is about settlements, land use and transport.
In this lesson you will
- Identify settlements and the services they offer, and give reasons for the site of a settlement
- Identify cultivated land, open scrub and forest and infer the occupations of the people
- Identify the types of roads and tracks and the means of communication
| Village | Services on the sheet |
|---|---|
| Nandiwadi | Post office and police station |
| Sonakhedi | Dispensary |
| Pathrali | None shown |
