For Schools

Change what homework means.

Traditional assignments no longer reliably demonstrate learning. Build classrooms where thinking is visible.

The output is no longer the proof.

When AI can produce a B+ essay or solve calculus in seconds, the artifact alone proves nothing. If it can be generated without effort, how do we know learning occurred?

The solution is not to ban technology. The solution is to change the assignment.

The SOYL Workflow

01

Teacher Design

Educators frame the learning objective using SOYL's challenge structure.

02

Student Context

Students are presented with the scenario and constraints.

03

Strategy & Ideation

Students map out their approach before jumping to solutions.

04

Student Action

Students research, build, write, or create their solution, documenting their process.

05

Defense & Reflection

Students articulate why they made their choices and what they learned.

06

Educator Review

Teachers evaluate the evidence of thinking, guided by SOYL's insight engine.

Seamless Curriculum Alignment

The SOYL Method does not require you to throw away your curriculum. It is a pedagogical overlay that integrates with your existing standards—whether Common Core, IB, IGCSE, or local frameworks.

What a Pilot Looks Like

Phase 1: Introduce (Weeks 1-2)

PD for early-adopter teachers. Mapping 2-3 key units.

Phase 2: Implement (Weeks 3-8)

Teachers deploy challenges. Ongoing support based on student responses.

Phase 3: Evaluate (Weeks 9-10)

Review portfolios, feedback, and assess depth of learning.

FAQ

Questions from school leaders

What does a SOYL Academy pilot look like?

A pilot runs in three phases over about ten weeks. In Introduce (weeks 1–2), a core cohort of early-adopter teachers receives professional development and maps 2–3 units to the SOYL framework. In Implement (weeks 3–8), teachers deploy SOYL challenges with ongoing support. In Evaluate (weeks 9–10), the school reviews student portfolios and teacher feedback and plans a wider rollout.

Does SOYL Academy work with our existing curriculum?

Yes. The SOYL Method is a pedagogical overlay, not a replacement curriculum. It integrates with existing standards such as Common Core, IB, IGCSE or local frameworks, changing how learning is assessed rather than what is taught.

How does the SOYL workflow work for teachers?

Teachers define an objective, generate a real-world context with SOYL’s help, assign a challenge, review the students’ process and defence, and evaluate the evidence of thinking. The six steps are Define Objective, Generate Context, Assign Challenge, Student Action, Defense & Reflection and Educator Review.

What happens to homework when students have AI?

SOYL Academy’s answer is neither banning technology nor retreating to pen-and-paper exams. The answer is to change the assignment so that it asks students to apply, create and defend ideas — work that cannot be completed by copying a generated answer.
